RCIP Brandon 2026: intake status, priority sectors and occupations

What the Brandon Rural Community Immigration Pilot actually requires right now, taken from Economic Development Brandon and re-checked every month. Most guides to this programme are months out of date.

Intake open · verified 2 October 2026

Open continuously. Brandon runs no intake windows at all.

Applications are accepted year-round against a calendar-year sector list and awarded first come, first served. Employer designation is also open on a rolling basis. Nothing has been announced for 2027.

Priority sectors for 2026

  • Education, Law and Social, Community and Government Services
  • Health
  • Manufacturing and Utilities
  • Natural and Applied Sciences
  • Trades and Transport
Changes this year. Natural Resources and Agriculture was REMOVED mid-year, taking Brandon from six sectors to five. Eight occupations were dropped and eight added at the same time. Any guide still listing six Brandon sectors predates June 2026.

The occupation list, and its traps

Brandon publishes 25 priority occupations. Being on that list is necessary but not sufficient, and the detail below is where most self-prepared applications come apart.

Health dominates the list with 11 of the 25 occupations. Two occupations are explicitly NOT eligible in Brandon despite appearing on third-party lists: Home Support Workers and Caregivers (44101), and transport truck drivers. Early Childhood Educators (42202) is restricted to CCA, ECE II and ECE III classifications only.

The full list, with the codes and any wage requirements, is published by the community: see the official occupation list. We do not reproduce it here, because it changes mid-year and a stale copy is worse than no copy.

Caps and limits

  • 15 per cent of the 2026 allocation is reserved for the health sector
  • The remainder is awarded first come, first served
  • The numeric annual allocation is not published
  • No occupation caps or per-employer limits published

Who cannot use this programme

  • Consulates and immigration-representative-owned businesses
  • Businesses that recruit to contract staff out to others, including security contractors
  • Businesses paying on a sole commission model
  • Home-care corporations hiring to care for the owner's own family
  • Home Support Workers and Caregivers (NOC 44101)
  • Long-haul and transport truck drivers

What the numbers actually show

Designated employers41, of which at least 8 support existing staff only

Intake windows in 2026

  • No intake windows - continuous first come, first served

Processing

Permanent residence is stated at 12 months for 80 per cent of applications. The RCIP work permit is valid 24 months and takes roughly three to four months. Brandon no longer schedules appointments for prospective applicants because of demand.

Worth knowing

Brandon is the outlier among all fourteen communities: no windows, no points, no score. That makes timing and completeness decisive rather than candidate strength. A widely circulated third-party occupation list for Brandon is substantially wrong, omitting 19 of the 25 real occupations and including two that are expressly ineligible.
