Priority sectors for 2026

  • Business, Finance and Administration
  • Sales and Service
  • Trades and Transport
  • Manufacturing and Utilities
  • Education, Law and Social, Community and Government Services
  • Health
Changes this year. Health was added for 2026, taking Moose Jaw from five sectors to six. Priorities can only be altered once a year, so no further sector change is expected before 2027.

The occupation list, and its traps

Moose Jaw publishes 25 priority occupations. Being on that list is necessary but not sufficient, and the detail below is where most self-prepared applications come apart.

Two occupations are CLOSED for the rest of 2026 because their caps are exhausted: Cooks (63200) and Retail Sales Supervisors (62010). Seven occupations were added for 2026 and seven dropped, including carpenters, construction helpers and heavy-duty equipment mechanics. The sector rules over the occupation: a candidate in a priority occupation working for an employer outside a priority sector is ineligible.

The full list, with the codes and any wage requirements, is published by the community: see the official occupation list. We do not reproduce it here, because it changes mid-year and a stale copy is worse than no copy.

Worth knowing

All employers must now hold a Saskatchewan Certificate of Registration, new for 2026. Candidates in Canada must hold a valid work or study permit; visitor status and maintained visitor status are not eligible. The employer list carries a prominent notice that most designated employers use the pilot to support people they already employ and are not accepting applications.
